モーリシャスの詩人Edouard MaunickとArmande Malletの息子であり、モーリシャスで生まれ、10歳の時にイギリスに移住したJean-Paul Edouard Maunick MBEは、芸名「Bluey（ブルーイ）」としてよく知られている。
イギリスのギタリスト、バンドリーダー、作曲家、レコード・プロデューサーである彼は、1979年に共同設立したイギリスのアシッド・ジャズ・バンド「Incognito（インコグニート）」を率いている。Incognitoでは、20枚のスタジオ・アルバムに加え、数多くのライブ・アルバム、リミックス・アルバム、コンピレーション・アルバムをリリースしている。Incognitoを結成する以前、ブルーイは「Light of the World」や「Freeez」の創設メンバーであった。
彼がプロデュースを手掛けたアーティストには、Chaka Khan、George Benson、George Duke、Al Jarreau、Al McKay、Philip Bailey、Leon Ware、Paul Weller、Lulu、Anastacia、Maxi Priest、Mario Biondi、Ed Motta、Hamish Stuart (AWB)、Terry Callier、Stevie Wonderなどがいる。
Blueyが立ち上げたその他のプロジェクトには、「Citrus Sun」、「STR4TA」（Gilles Petersonと共同で結成）、「Inner Space」、「Thames River Soul」、「Bluey and Friends」などがある。
 ソロアーティストとして、これまでに3枚のアルバムをリリースしている。

The son of Mauritian poet Edouard Maunick, and Armande Mallet, born in Mauritius and having moved to the United Kingdom when he was ten years old, Jean-Paul Edouard Maunick MBE is better known by his stage
name ‘Bluey’.
A British guitarist, bandleader, composer and record producer, he has led the British acid jazz band Incognito since he co founded it in 1979. With Incognito, he has released twenty studio albums as well as a number of live albums, remix albums and compilation albums. Prior to forming Incognito, Bluey was a founding member of the groups Light of the World and Freeez.
His record production credits include artists such as Chaka Khan, George Benson, George Duke, Al Jarreau, Al McKay, Philip Bailey, Leon Ware, Paul Weller, Lulu, Anastacia, Maxi Priest, Mario Biondi, Ed Motta, Hamish Stuart (AWB), Terry Callier, and Stevie Wonder.
Other acts founded by Bluey include ‘Citrus Sun’, ‘STR4TA’ (who he formed with Gilles Peterson), ‘Inner Space’, ‘Thames River Soul’ and ‘Bluey and Friends’.
 As a solo artist he has release three albums to date.
